Universal Principles of Design Redesign (2008)

The final project of a graphic design course had me redesigning the layout of our textbook, Universal Principles of Design.

As part of the assignment, the redesign was focused around two concepts: information hierarchy and the Fibonacci sequence.

The information hierarchy is reflected in the size and spacing of information, with the most important information being placed at the top in the largest type. The Fibonacci sequence is utilized in the color motif, with red, orange, yellow, green and blue possessing relative widths equal to the first five values of the Fibonacci sequence, 1, 1, 2, 3 and 5.
