Loop Coffee Table (2007)
The Loop table was born in a furniture design course at Miami University. The initial concept behind the table was to play with the standard tabletop-and-legs design by eliminating the line between tabletop and leg. This was achieved by bending the table surface beneath itself to act as its own support.
The table was constructed by glue-laminating several thin layers of wood together and then using a vacuum press to form those layers around a curved mold.
The core is flexible plywood covered with a cherry veneer. The transparent material is a tinted acrylic plastic, chosen for lightness and strength. 20" x 19" x 54" |
